The first thing you need to do is decide who you are going to look at in your essay. It could be an individual director such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Edgar Wright - it could be a production company such as A24, Marvel Studios or Blumhouse.
Once you have chosen a media producer you need to watch as much of their content as possible, actively thinking of what you would like to explore in your video.
Brainstorming:
- Fill in the table below to help you brainstorm ideas for what your video essay might be about. You may need to look up your favourite films to see who directed it and what else they have made.
- Come up with three different video essay titles that you might be interested in making.
(for example:
Why the characters in Aquaman make it the best Marvel film,
How Blumhouse has transformed the horror genre,
How Wes Anderson uses mise en scene to tell a story.)
